It is my belief that now is the time to focus on sustainable building practices. I am working together with the city, builders and dedicated homeowners to help educate those who are interested in sustainable building in the Seattle area. I am frequently attending workshops, classes and conferences to help stay abreast of the latest technologies and information on Green Building practices.
Why Sustainable Building?
Buildings consume or are responsible for:
40% of the world's total energy use,
30% of raw materials consumption,
25% of timber harvest,
35% of the world's CO2 emissions,
16% of fresh water withdrawal,
40% of municipal solid waste destined for local landfills, and
50% of ozone-depleting CFCs still in use.
We have to start now by considering the environmental, economic, social and health effects of building and remodeling homes. It is possible and cost effective to build Green. Come to one of my classes or contact me and I'll help to show you how!
